ABOUT PEARLMAN PREMIER PROPERTIES

AND

THOMAS PEARLMAN

Former Ferndale Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year, Ferndale Citizen of the Year, Founding Board Member Ferndale Community Foundation, Board Member Midwest AIDS Prevention Project/Michigan AIDs Coalition, Downtown Development Authority Board Member, recipient of Beautification Awards and a Member of the Chamber of Commerce for 35 years.

After graduating from University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School, Tom opened his Ferndale law office in space sublet from filmmakers Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead). He now owns the historic building and its 18 office suites and storefronts. His secretary, Doris, was 86 when she retired after working for 30 years with Tom. Kimmi has worked with Tom for over 30 years and manages over 125 tenants in 25 commercial buildings in Ferndale. Tom’s son, Adam, a Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business student, has recently joined the office. Tenants include Woodward Avenue Brewers, Loving Touch, Lawrence Street Gallery, Schramm’s Mead, Balloon Factory Artist Guild, East Wall Collective, The Oakland, Little Herbs Co., Bangkok Cafe, Quickly Boba Cafe, Loose Cannon Flagship and Vintage Locker Detroit. Their office is steps away from Soho and 215 West, the bar and event space he owns with his business partner Toly. Tom has previously operated the Royal Oak Club 3-D and Ferndale’s Q Nightclub.

Tom started investing in commercial property in the early 90’s and is considered the pioneer in the renovation of older buildings in Downtown Ferndale. He is known for keeping rents reasonable and considers many of his longtime tenants as family. Supported by a skilled group of tradespeople and artisans, Tom takes pride in improving and maintaining his properties. A supporter of local art, Tom has contributed several popular additions to Ferndale Public Art Scene. (See below)

Not a fan of the newer developments along Woodward with their “cookie cutter/strip center” designs and national franchise tenants, Tom prefers the character and uniqueness of the older buildings and local entrepreneurs.
